The CDS is the most important element in any clinical documentation improvement (CDI) program. CDI is a [behavioural change ](https://www.cdia.com.au/category/blog/science-behind-cdi)process implementing scientific principles, with the core principle that binds everything together being reinforcement. It is the CDS who brings the reinforcement to the CDI process.
